Maximising our sports potential

Supporting our teachers logo. County Carlow Sports Partnership recognise the major role that sport and physical activity can play in the lives of young people. It is important that an enjoyable multi-sport and non-competitive model is used to introduce our children to sport and physical activity complementing and enhancing both our school and community sport programmes.

The Buntús programmes have been developed to support teachers in introducing young people to sport and helping to develop their interest in physical activity.

How will Buntús benefit schools

Buntús offers quality, child-centred equipment, resources and training to aid in raising the profile of physical education and sport in schools. Buntús improves physical education training opportunities for teachers and provides alternative enjoyable and meaningful activity for children. It complements the delivery of the National Curriculum.

How do children benefit

  1. Develop new broad-based sporting skills.
  2. Learn and develop life skills.
  3. Use of sport for development of physical, mental, social health and wellbeing.
  4. Develop the lifelong habit of physical activity for healthy living.
